Route Guidance for Satisfying Temporal Logic Specifications on Aircraft Motion
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a new technique for aircraft route guidance subject to linear temporal logic (LTL) specifications. The proposed approach is based on workspace partitioning, and relies on the idea of so-called lifted graphs. Briefly, edges in a lifted graph are successions of adjacent edges in the topological graph associated with the workspace partition. We associate edges of the lifted graph with certain reachability properties of the aircraft model. The main result of this paper is the precise characterization of acceptable routes (namely, sequences of cells) that are guaranteed to be traversable by admissible state trajectories of the aircraft model while satisfying the given LTL specifications. The proposed approach incorporates nonholonomic kinematic constraints, does not require complete controllability in the presence of workspace constraints, and does not require linearization of the aircraft model. We discuss numerical methods to implement the proposed route-planning algorithm. We illustrate the proposed algorithm with numerical simulation examples that reflect the practical significance of LTL specifications in aircraft guidance. ∗Assistant Professor, Aerospace Engineering Program. Maximum Realizability for Linear Temporal Logic Specifications
Automatic synthesis from linear temporal logic (LTL) specifications is widely used in robotic motion planning, control of autonomous systems, and load distribution in power networks. A common specification pattern in such applications consists of an LTL formula describing the requirements on the behaviour of the system, together with a set of additional desirable properties. We study the synthe...
متن کاملA Multi-layered Synergistic Approach to Motion Planning with Complex Goals
This paper describes an approach for solving motion planning problems for mobile robots involving temporal goals. The temporal goals are described over subsets of the workspace (called propositions) using temporal logic. The approach uses an instantiation of a multi-layered synergistic planning framework that has been proposed recently. In this framework, a high-level planner constructs high-le...
متن کاملMotion Planning with Safety Constraints and High-Level Task Specifications
The formalism of linear temporal logic (LTL) [2] is increasingly being used to express task specifications in robotics, automation, and manufacturing. Its expressiveness, coupled with its ease of use, makes it suitable for numerous scenarios. LTL alone, however, just expresses temporal relationships and misses the ability to model the unavoidable uncertainty emerging in interactions with the ph...

This paper aims to develop formal methods to achieve a performance guaranteed integrated task and motion planning (ITMP) with respect to high-level specifications given by signal temporal logic (STL). It is a problem of practical importance because many safety-critical applications in robotics (e.g., navigation, manipulation, and surgery) and autonomous systems (e.g., unmanned aircraft and self...

We present preliminary work on the application of probabilistic model checking to motion planning for robot systems, using specifications in co-safe linear temporal logic. We describe our approach, implemented with the probabilistic model checker PRISM, illustrate it with a simple simulated example and discuss further extensions and improvements.
